Since my last blog, I have been very busy. I was lucky to be introduced to another client who lives in Seattle and an MBA graduate who now works for Adobe in San Francisco. Thanks Jordan and Katie! They are definitely helping spread the word.
With a new client in Seattle, I knew a trip to Seattle was necessary. My first trip to Seattle was everything I had envisioned it would be: RAIN. Unfortunately it was very uncommon for Rain in the summer (my luck), but I was able get into the city to tour downtown while doing what I LOVE: shopping with a client for home furnishings. What a great city! Can't wait to go back.
A road trip from San Francisco to Carmel, then back through San Francisco, Reno, Evanston (Wyoming), Boise, Yellowstone, and the Badlands, the mini cooper pulled through, and brought us back to Evanston on August 29th. With a packed car, and only a sliver of the rear window in site, the only person who sustained injury was Jace's front tire to his bike, which unfortunately flew off the top of the car 30ft into the air and tacoed as it landed in a median full of desert sage. Our arrival to Evanston was much appreciated, since Jace was extremely irritated with the amount of "work stuff" I had acquired while our 3 months in San Francisco. Hey, at least I was working!! :)
After 2 and 1/2 months back in Evanston, I've been swamped with paid and unpaid work. October 15th I received my first official payment from Iconic Development. Iconic Development, a company comprised of 2 real estate investors (Kellogg graduates), have joined together to start a business. Their business model is to refurbish existing student housing, but make them fun, hip and environmentally friendly. What a great concept right? They are currently buying up property in Boise, Idaho. I've made 2 trips to Boise so far, the first ending in a broken toe and the second ending in additional work. This first project been a fast and furious project, but a blast non the less.
While in Boise this past week, I received an email from Jamie and Andy Zacharias, our Fort Worth friends, who have asked me to fly down and help with their newly purchased home. It's a great opportunity, and will be a great project for me to work on. I can't wait to get started.
With the Zacharias house soon to be under way, a project out for bid, more apartment projects in the near future, and my renovation project in Monterey starting construction in January, it seems like the business is taking off. Looks like the next business leader of 08', my husband, was right. I'm sure it's not the name that's making my business successful, but more so his trust and support in starting a business in the midst of his business school undertaking. Many thanks to Ed Mahon as well, as he's been a great voice of reason.
Keep coming back...I hope to keep reporting good news!
